Recycled Plastic Lumber Equipment
Recycled plastic lumber equipment has been in manufactured since the early
1980s. Plastic lumber is most commonly manufactured from
post-consumer high density polyethylene (HDPE), but linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and low
density polyethylene (LDPE) are also used. These plastic feed stocks are
derived from such raw materials as post-consumer milk jugs, soda bottles,
grocery bags, plastic wrap, bubble rap, detergent bottles, and water
bottles, and other used plastic commodities.
How to Manufacture Plastic Lumber
The recovered plastic is cleaned, shredded, and ground using plastic
shredders and Granulators. The material is then run through a
plastic extruders and mixed with foaming agents, UV stabilizers, and color
pigments. Then it is flow molded or extruded into various lumber sizes.
The product is then cooled and inspected. It is now transformed into
"Recycled Plastic Lumber". The specific forming process, either flow
molding or extrusion is dictated by the size and shape of the "Recycled
Plastic Lumber" to be manufactured
This plastic lumber can then be transformed by consumers and manufacturers
into a wide range of products including decks & docks, landscape timbers,
parking stops, picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, planters, ash
urns and numerous custom applications.
Used Plastic Lumber Equipment
Machinery and equipment for manufacturing plastic lumber is typically made
to order by the equipment supplier. Many suppliers use only new equipment
. However considering the variations in the recovered plastic other
suppliers have elected to use good remanufactured plastic lumber equipment
in order to minimize the investment required. It is estimated that used
rebuilt equipment will cost only fifty percent of the price of new
equipment.
