Types of Recycled
Plastic Composite
Plastic/waste wood
fiber
Composites made of recycled polyvinyl chloride or high density
polyethylene plastics and waste wood fiber have the dimensional stability
and thermal performance of wood, and the uniformity and decay resistance
of plastics. The percentage of recycled plastic to wood is typically about
50/50. However other ratios can be developed, depending upon the final
application. Typically processing aids and foaming agents are incorporated
to achieve processability and to control the density of the finished product.
Composite plastic can be used for manufacture of :
Recycled Plastic /Rubber Composite
Recycled plastic rubber composite is relatively new to the market. This
material is composed of about 50 percent plastic and 50 percent recycled
tire crumb. The material, used originally for commercial applications such
as flooring in livestock trailers, is tough, durable, and impervious to
water, insects, and UV rays.
The plastic rubber composite has the advantage of being completely
resistant to rot,
because it bears no celulostic fiber as does the wood plastic composite.Composite plastic/rubber can be used for manufacture of :
Plastic Composite Equipment
Twin screw extruders with corotating, intermeshing, segmented screws, and
equipped with a vacuum pump for degassing, with cylinder cooling and screw
cooling is the ideal machines for the preparation of plastic composite
blends which contain reinforcing wood fiber or other reinforcements. Two
or more volumetric dispensers can be used to supply the different
materials in the ratio required in order to maintain a consistent blend.
At least two vacuum ports are recommended to insure degassing of volatiles.
